Steve Bresnahan was Executive Director of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Saint Cloud from 1994 to 2016. He served with 580 employees, 3,600 volunteers and 200 Foster Grandparents to “advance the charitable and social mission of the Diocese of Saint Cloud…” through 40 programs serving individuals and families of all faiths and beliefs across the 16 counties of central Minnesota.

Prior to his role with Catholic Charities, he held senior management positions in several health care and social service not-for-profits. He served on the Catholic Charities USA Board of Trustees in both governance and numerous committee roles from 1996 to 2016.

Locally he served on the Board of the United Way of Central MN, the Center for Nonprofit Excellence and Strategic Innovation (CNESI), and the Catholic Health Association of Minnesota, Greater St Cloud 2013 Community Priorities, St Cloud Housing Study task force and several housing corporation boards. As a member of the St. Cloud Rotary Club, he was instrumental in the creation of Pathways 4 Youth, a St Cloud community-based program for homeless and near homeless teens, young adults and their families. He also has been active in the Summertime By George concert series provided to the community by the St. Cloud Rotary Club each summer.

A graduate of St. John’s University with a degree in choral music and education, he holds a master’s in healthcare administration from the University of Minnesota. He has continued to perform in many music settings including musical theater, solo, ensemble and choral settings with an emphasis on conducting, singing and jazz guitar.

He lives near Watkins, Minnesota with his wife Marlene, a retired special education teacher, and near their two sons and five grandchildren.
